Single Ply Specialists
Single Ply roofing materials are made up of a synthetic plastic membrane, with waterproofing as its main objective, single ply roofing solutions provide good protection from all of the elements, as well as rain. The material itself has a much more modern look and style compared to older solutions such as bitumen and felt roofs. Single ply is a relatively new solution to the flat roofing industry, but holds great potential for future builds.
What Is Single Ply Roofing?
Single ply is a roofing material made up of a synthetic membrane, the material itself appears almost rubber like and holds a lot more advantages to more traditional roofing methods. Unlike felt and bitumen, single ply roofing solutions are joined and connected on a molecular level, thus making the possibility for leaks less likely.
We specialise in the application of the listed Single ply solutions:
1) PVC – this is the most popular membrane in the UK, mainly because of its easy installation and its flexability between domestic and commercial uses.
2) TPO – This membrane is mainly used for commercial builds and is considered more environmentally friendly than PVC.
Benefits Of Single Ply Roofing
Single ply roofing has been proven to hold more benefits in comparson to more traditional methods of flat roofing. Due to the synthetic membrane, single ply is applied by using a heat welding method which joins the material together on a molecular level, thus reducing the possibility of leaks and exposures. The plastic membranes are integrated with UV resistors at source during the manufacturing process, giving the material superior UV degradation resistance.
Single ply roofing membranes are fire resistant and self-extinguishing. In addition, they cannot be ignited by flying sparks. Single ply materials have been produced to comply with the needs of today’s builds, with regard to structural and building movement. They are dimensionally stable and will repeatedly accommodate normal structural movement without fatigue. Low temperature flexibility has been tested down to -35 degrees C.
Our team is fully trained and qualified in the installation and maintenance of single ply roofing solutions and have received certification from SPRA (Single Ply Roofing Association). We use high quality PVC single ply materials to guarantee a high standard of quality with every job and we are also recognised as a certified installer of “Cefil” single ply products, which are suggested to be the best on the market at this time.
“Over 3,000,000 m2 of Cefil Membranes have been installed in the UK without a single recorded product failure” – Cefil
